A 30-year-old woman who gave birth to triplets in the Sherikhat suburb of Juba on Sunday evening is appealing for support to help raise the newborns.
Mary Atong, the triplets’ mother, told Radio Tamazuj that she is thankful for the safe delivery and called on well-wishers to come to her aid, saying she is deprived.
“I am thankful that I safely gave birth by the grace of God three days ago. But I may not be able to raise these two baby boys and a baby girl because I am poor,” Atong said. “I came from a cattle camp outside Juba for delivery. The condition of the place I currently stay is not good and getting milk for these babies and even food for me is a problem.”
She earnestly pleaded with well-wishers to help her.
“My husband is an old man. I left him behind with my four other kids. In this situation, the only option may be going back to the cattle camp. But I think that may not be good for the health of my babies and me. So, I am appealing for help,” she said.
Deng Panchol Ngueny, a community leader from Jonglei’s Kolnyang area where the woman hails, also pleaded for help, saying, “These babies need clothes and milk. I was with them yesterday. Their health is good but their mother is not able to produce enough milk to breastfeed them.”
