A 45-year-old woman who was arrested and detained for the crimes of her son in Aluakaluak Payam of Yirol West County in Lakes State died by suicide on Tuesday.
Her son, Panther Makur, who is accused of killing two people from the Atuot Luac section, is in hiding.
The deputy chief inspector of Police in Aluakaluak Payam of Yirol West County Major Abiel Garang told Radio Tamazuj that the woman identified as Nyanon Marial Aguek hanged herself at the Agany Military Prison.
“Nyanon (Akoi) was arrested in Agany military prison under the orders from the state governor instructing the commissioner of Yirol West County because of the crime of murder committed by her son. So, her son has murdered two people and refused to surrender and kept hiding in the bushes without being traced and apprehended by the police," Garang said.
He said the suspect's mother and eight others were arrested following orders from the county commissioner.
Majo. Garang said the deceased body was taken by the family for burial.
The Payam Administrator in Aluakaluak Payam Daniel Ichok Dhieu confirmed the incident.
“She was arrested on behave of her son who killed two people to revenge his brother from Atuot Luac section. It was his brother who was first killed and later he revenged it by killing only one person from the Atuot Luac section. He then killed another second person in self-defense when he was about to be killed, making the total two people," he said.
The Director of police CID in Aluakaluak Payam Majok Marial Kuol said that the murderer is still at large.
