Police say they have arrested a woman for allegedly killing her neighbor in Eastern Equatoria State capital, Torit.
The incident occurred in the Morwari area.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the state police spokesperson, Major Justin Kleopus Takuru said the prime suspect identified as Susan Ayoo beat her neighbor only identified as Regina, who was pregnant.
“Susan Ayoo beat her neighbor Regina with a stick, and she was given Police Form 8 to take the woman to a hospital since her condition was not good. We opened a case and arrested Susan on June 30. But after two days, Susan was released on bail so that the case could go to court,” said Takuru.
He added, “The following day, Regina became very sick and was returned to the hospital. On the third day, her condition again became critical and was admitted to the hospital where she died after three days. When asked by the investigator before she died, Regina complained of pain in her ribs.”
Takuru said the suspect was re-arrested to face murder charges.
