The World Health Organization (WHO) has allocated funds to El Daein Hospital in East Darfur State to cover electricity costs and provide incentives for staff for a two-month period.
Dr. Ahmed Bakkar, Director-General of the Ministry of Finance in East Darfur, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the state’s budget this year prioritizes health, water, and security.
“For a significant duration, the Ministry of Finance has been dedicated to ensuring a stable supply of fuel and creating a conducive working environment for medical personnel. This commitment has bolstered the stability of healthcare services and facilitated the provision of life-saving medications,” Dr. Ahmed Bakkar explained.
Dr. Bakkar commended the World Health Organization for supplying two barrels of fuel daily to power electricity at Al Daein Hospital. Additionally, financial incentives will be extended to doctors and hospital staff for two months, commencing February 20.
Highlighting the Ministry of Finance’s ongoing support, Dr. Bakkar mentioned a forthcoming shift in focus to water-related initiatives. Another organization will intervene in the water sector, aiming to improve access to drinking water for residents of East Darfur.
