The governor of Sudan’s White Nile state Abdul Hamid Musa Kasha said opening of border with Sudan South requires the South Sudanese army to pull back to the 1 January 1956 border.

He was speaking in a rally at Jebleen area on Monday.

Kasha said that the commissioner of Jebleen locality and commissioner of Renk county held a meeting to discuss a number of issues concerning the border.

He said his country respects its decisions and if South Sudan withdraws its troop further south, they will immediately implement the decision to open the border.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir ordered in January that his troops withdraw five miles south to allow for full normalization of relations with Sudan following by orders by his northern counterpart President Omar al-Bashir to open the border.
