Whereabouts of Aggrey Idri still not known: wife

The family of the opposition official Aggrey Idri, who went missing from Nairobi early this year, said they have not heard anything about his whereabouts.

The family of the opposition official Aggrey Idri, who went missing from Nairobi early this year, said they have not heard anything about his whereabouts.

Aggrey Idri Ezbon and human rights lawyer Dong Samuel Luak, both senior members of South Sudan’s armed opposition led by Riek Machar, went missing from the Kenyan capital in January.

According to rights groups, the two men are believed to have been abducted by or at the request of South Sudan officials and taken illegally to Juba.

Rev. Ayaa, the wife of Aggrey, told Radio Tamazuj today that no one knows something about her husband who was abducted in January from Nairobi.

“Even those who are in Juba are scared to talk about it. When you ask people in Juba they say they don’t know, that’s why we stopped talking about it. Up to now I don’t know his whereabouts,” she said.

Ayaa pointed out that rights group Amnesty International had promised to investigate Aggrey Idri’s whereabouts. “When we met people from Amnesty they said they are still investigating the issue, but they said rumours say that Aggrey is in Juba,” she said.

She called on the government of South Sudan to release her husband so he can return to his family in Nairobi, saying their living condition worsened following the disappearance of Aggrey.
