The UN World Food Programe has said that it will drop food in Twic East County this week following delays due to weather conditions last week.

Citing the county commissioner, Radio Tamazuj had reported that the drops would take place before the end of last week.

But on Friday the WFP communications officers George Fominyen disclosed that the air drops in the western Jonglei county were delayed.

“Our plan as WFP was to reach about 39,000 people in Mabior,” he said in an interview. “We had planned to started yesterday but… we pushed to next week.”

Twic East County Commissioner Dau Akoi Jurkuch said that last Thursday they were cleaning around the Mabior airstrip in preparation for the drops.
