The governor of South Sudan’s Western Lakes state says the security situation has returned to normal after inter-communal clashes last week.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Governor Matur Chut Dhuol said they have already deployed more security forces to patrol buffer zones and defuse tensions between rival communities of Athoi and Panyoon.

Separately, South Sudan Police Spokesperson, Daniel Justin Boula said police authorities have arrested 11 suspects believed to be fueling inter-communal clashes between Aliab and Atuot tribes in Eastern Lakes State where at least 13 people were killed from the two sides over the weekend.
