Western Lakes governor appoints deputy, sacks information minister

The governor of South Sudan’s Western Lakes State Mahmuod Solomon on Sunday issued an executive order appointing Stephen Mathiang Deng Monydit as his deputy.

The governor of South Sudan's Western Lakes State Mahmuod Solomon on Sunday issued an executive order appointing Stephen Mathiang Deng Monydit as his deputy.

Mr. Monydit had served as commissioner of Rumbek North County and agriculture minister in the defunct Lakes State.

Separately, Governor Mahmuod appointed Zachariah Magot Ater into the culture, youth and sports docket.

The governor also removed Majak Isaac Ror from his role as minister of information and communications.

The order did not provide an explanation for the removal of Majak. The post was also not immediate filled and it remains unclear when the new official would be named.
