Western Equatoria chiefs, education directors receive motorbikes from governor

Paramount chiefs and education directors in Western Equatoria State on Saturday received 20 motorbikes donated to them by State Governor Alfred Futuyo.

Paramount chiefs and education directors in Western Equatoria State on Saturday received 20 motorbikes donated to them by State Governor Alfred Futuyo.

The state governor announced the donation of 20 motorbikes and 100 bicycles in December 2021 during his Christmas message to citizens of Western Equatoria State.

Speaking during handing over ceremony, Governor Futuyo said the motorbikes will boost the mobility of education directors in all the counties while monitoring education programs.

He said the donation will also help paramount chiefs sensitize parents to send their children to school.

“I am handing over 10 motorbikes to directors of county education so that they can go and run the mission of education so that our children can learn. I am also giving 10 motorbikes to the paramount chiefs to go and move door to door because there is no network in the villages so that people can send their children to school,” he said.

The state official called on the county authorities to cooperate and work together to deliver services to the communities.

Daniel Bakindo, the paramount chief of Maridi County, appreciated the governor for the donation and said: “I give thanks to the governor for what he has done for us in Western Equatoria State.”
