Western Bahr el-Ghazel Governor reinstates peace and security advisor

Western Bahr el-Ghazel State Governor Emmanuel Primo Okello has lifted the suspension of Marko Peter Achor as State Advisor for Peace and Security.

In Gubernatorial order seen by Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Achor was asked to resume his duties with immediate effect.

The Council of Ministers and all the State Security Organs were also ordered to implement the decree immediately.

Former Governor Sarah Rial Cleto issued an order on October 29, suspending Achor from his duties after he had accused her of diverting two vehicles donated by UNMISS to personal use.

The two vehicles, Achor said, were transferred to the Council of Minister following his request to the UNMISS field head office, but were diverted to the governor’s home.

Achor made the claim when Cleto was on an official visit in Juba but upon her return from the capital, she immediately issued a suspension order, which Achor described as an abuse of power.

In unclear circumstances, Cleto also lost her gubernatorial job soon after.
