The education minister in Sudan’s West Kordofan state said Monday he needs nearly 2400 more teachers to meet students’ needs.
Minister Yusuf Jubara told El Jareeda newspaper Monday that the ministry is short 7 billion SDG to pay teacher salaries.
He said shortages of teachers and provision of educational opportunities for nomads are the major challenges the ministry is facing.
Yusuf blamed parents and guardians for non-payment of tuition and the education council for illegally collecting money from students.
He said the education council sometimes charges students without consulting the proper authorities.
Jabir stressed that the ministry will address the problem in consultation with the state legislature.
