West Kordofan allocates 2,126,800 SDG for President Bashir’s visit

The government of Sudan’s West Kordofan State has proposed a budget amounted to 2,126,800 SDG to receive President Omar Al-Bashir who is scheduled to visit the state on 30 August, a according to a government document seen by Radio Tamazuj.

The budget proposed by the high financial committee is equivalent to $ 327,200 according to the official exchange rate.

 The internal document shows that the mobilization committee will spend 272,900 SDG, and another committee for projects should be allocated 446,900 SDG, while the information committee’s budget is 246,500 SDG.

The cost for Bashir’s reception site amounted to 353,500 SDG, while accommodation expenses reached 607,000 SDG.

Reacting to the news, several local residents criticized the state government for allocating huge amounts of money for President Bashir’s one day visit to the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several citizens said this money should to be used for service delivery instead of squandering resources lavishly on receptions.
