The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) says that church leaders will meet with armed groups in the state to try to halt serious violations committed against civilians in Yambio by SPLA, ‘Arrow Boys’ and other armed groups during the last few months.

Peter Jamous, CEPO coordinator in Western Equatoria state told Radio Tamazuj that there were serious violations committed against the citizens of Yambio, Tombura and Ezo counties last year which included arrests, rapes, killings, looting and destruction of properties.

He pointed out that the citizens still fear the presence of SPLA forces in the area.

Jamous revealed that church leaders have held a meeting with the governor of the state on Wednesday over peace and human rights issues. He added that the church leaders will meet again with SPLA commanders and Arrow Boys to stop violations against civilians in the area.
