Western Equatoria Minister of Physical Infrastructure Clement Mbugoniwia and the Yambio County Chairman of Commerce have launched an effort to repair the road linking Yambio with Yei via Maridi.

The road has been badly damaged by rains, slowing commerce and thereby increasing the prices of consumer goods in the state. 

Local authorities have teamed up with the business community to repair some of the key roads with local contributions. 

The amount of money raised locally for the effort so far reaches to 30,000 South Sudanese pounds, according to a member of the contribution committee.

UNMISS and NGOs which use the road have also contributed equipment, fuel and graders for use in the leveling of the road.
