"We hate war": Juba Christians demand immediate peace deal

A group of South Sudanese Christians marched through the streets of Juba today demanding an immediate signing of a peace deal to end the war.

The demonstrators, mostly women, held hand-written signs with messages including "We hate war," "Yes for Peace," and "No to tribe, we are one."

The Christians, including elders, knelt on the ground in humility to pray for an end to South Sudan's 19 month war. They also specifically called for an end to recent violence in Western Equatoria state.

The event was organized by the Sudan Council of Churches National Women Program, which holds monthly marches for peace.
