WBG state government dismisses 200 workers

The government of Western Bahr El Ghazal announced the dismissal of more than 200 civil servants, who were working in the different government institutions, on allegations of participating in the previous general elections in 2010.

Zakaria Joseph Garang , the state acting minister for finance and minister for cooperatives and rural development, told Radio Tamazuj from Wau town that the resolution was based on the president decree No.(53)/2011 which said that all people who were nominated in the 2010 election would have to vacate their positions. He said the decision affected 200 to 300 people in the various state institutions.

Garang acknowledged that the resolution also meant that these dismissed employees should return back money that has been paid to them since the time when they contested for the election of 2010 at the nearest time convenient if possible.

With regard to rights and entitlements of these workers, the minister said that the issue is under study.

A great number of the dismissed staffs expressed their deep dissatisfaction with this dismissal resolution especially since the decision was delayed for more than two years.
