Loyalists of the South Sudanese president in various states have been trying to drum up support for military recruitment as well as other aspects of the war effort.

Western Bahr al Ghazal has been spared serious fighting but its capital Wau hosts the main referral hospital for a three-state region and so has been receiving many wounded soldiers from battles in Unity State.

During his visit to Raja on Tuesday and Wednesday, the governor gave a speech at the public square about the recent crisis in the country including the issue of the alleged coup attempt that occurred in Juba and how they are going to solve the issue.

According to the state information minister Derek Alfred, five of the state’s ministers and four advisors as well as the directors of police and prisons joined the trip to Raja.

In the morning on Wednesday the governor opened a cultural center and girls’ school which was recently completed, visited a hospital and also an old school.

He also visited the new state-run Raja FM which falls under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said Derek Alfred.
