Julieta Lino (20), a native of Wau in Western Bahr el Ghazal, has won a UNICEF peacebuilding competition with a poem of peace. She was given an opportunity to travel to the capital city of Juba to perform her poem at a peace event facilitated by the UN. Read it below or watch video of her performance.

When I look around I see sadness

When I look around I see worry

When I look around I see danger, anger, death

Oh, is this what life is all about?

No. Life is about love, peace, unity and laughter.

Oh Peace – where do you live?

How can I find you?

Can I touch you? See you? Feel you and taste you?

Together we work for peace, peacefully.
