Traders in Wau town have postponed the maintenance of the Chamber of Commerce headquarters until January next year, citing their poor situations.

This resolution was reached at a meeting between traders and the Wau municipality mayor at the state government secretariat last week.

Mohammed Adam, a trader at Al -Jou market, told Radio Tamazuj that maintenance of the Chamber of Commerce headquarters was postponed due to the deteriorating economic situation of traders.

He also proposed further feasibility studies on the maintenance costs.

On his part, Wau town mayor, Elizabeth Mario Masama said the meeting was held to review the amount previously agreed upon by the traders to renovate the Chamber of Commerce headquarters.

Also discussed, she added, was how to implement a street lighting project to provide security at night in markets to avoid theft cases.

Masama said both sides agreed to implement the lighting project.
