South Sudan’s constitutional court held another hearing on Tuesday in the capital Juba on the case between impeached speaker of Western Bahr al Ghazal State Assembly Andrea Mayar and Governor Rizig Hassan Zachariah.
The plaintiff claims that he was impeached at an extraordinary state parliament sitting that did not meet quorum and that the governor unduly interfered in the conduct of the assembly.
Agok Makur, the complainant’s defense lawyer, told Radio Tamazuj that lawyers from the national justice ministry defending the governor responded to the plaintiff’s petition before the court yesterday, denying some of the claims while accepting othres.
He pointed out that the next sitting of the court on this case will be on 14 July.
