Wau County Commissioner Elia Kamilo Dimo dismissed reports that at least 10 SPLA soldiers were killed in an ambush by the SPLA-IO rebels in Bazia in Western Bahr al Ghazal state recently.
Kamilo told Radio Tamazuj that only three SPLA soldiers were killed. “So the claims that about 10 soldiers were killed in untrue,” he said.
Military sources on Saturday said that they had lost ten soldiers when attacked by insurgents in Wau County. The sources described the insurgents as well-organized and capable of carrying out opportunistic attacks.
The county commissioner on Sunday claimed that the government forces have been pursuing the rebels into the bush after defeating them in Bazia area.
He claimed that they inflicted heavy losses on the rebel forces in term of lives and military equipment after they burned down a truck loaded with food items.
