A 30-year-old man was killed after a fight with unidentified persons in Wau town of Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Easter Sunday, police said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, State Police Commissioner Major General Ajuong Chwar said the incident occurred at Girinti residential area.
“The investigations are ongoing to arrest the culprit. This is a role of the police, and as police, we deployed our forces during Easter at the level of the state,” he said.
Ajuong said the killing case has been opened at a police station in Wau town.
The police officer said they are yet to identify the deceased.
Separately, Ajuong pointed out that the other areas of Western Bahr el Ghazal celebrated Easter peacefully without major crimes reported.
Meanwhile, Jur River County Commissioner James Bak said: “During the celebration, no crime was reported to me. People celebrated very well and up to now, people are celebrating in peace in Jur River County.”
He added, “I can say this year is the best year, citizens celebrated in peace and no traffic accidents. I am calling on the people of Jur River to continue celebrating in peace.”
