UN radio journalist George Livio Bahara, pastor Justin Enuella and employee of the Wau Diocese Martin Augustino Daud, have been held for more than a year without charge after being detained by security agents in Wau town in Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
Security agents arrested Livio, Augustino, and Justin in Wau in August last year before being transferred to Juba. South Sudan’s Transitional Constitution requires detainees to be produced before a court within 24 hours.
A security source in Juba confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the three arrested men are still in the custody of National Security Service.
The family of Martin Augustino is demanding their son be given his legal rights including the right to know the charges against him and the right to a trial or be released.
Sebit Augustino, Martin’s brother, called upon President Salva Kiir to intervene and release his brother.
Sebit said his is concern about his brother, noting he doesn’t hear anything new about his brother after the Bishop of the Catholic Church in Wau town travelled abroad for treatment.
