Health workers at Wau Teaching Hospital in Western Bahr el Ghazal State have threatened to go on strike over an assault on their colleague by a patient's attendant last week.
Speaking to reporters in Wau town last Thursday, Dr. Kolombos Andrea said he was attacked by a caregiver in the presence of nurses inside the hospital.
The medical doctor claimed the attacker was violent to anyone at the health facility, and expressed fears over his life should he continue working normally.
Doctors at the hospital condemned the incident, urging authorities to immediately intervene or else they would be forced to go on strike.
Dr. Akol Marial, a staff, said such harassments often happen to them.
He urged the concerned authorities to pursue the matter and bring the perpetrator to justice to stop doctors from going on strike.
The administration of Wau hospital has not commented on the matter.
