More than 30 customs police officers graduated last Friday in South Sudan’s Wau State in an effort to strengthen local revenue collection.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the state director of customs police in Wau, Lieutenant Colonel Deng Longar, said the officers will directly be involved in the collection of state revenue.
He urged them to ensure transparency and accountability, something he said will save the public and state money.
South Sudan’s Deputy Director General for customs police, Major General Gathon Jual also called on the officers to maintain law and order in their execution of duties to enable the state to achieve economic growth.
