Wau governor sacks deputy governor, appoints female deputy

The governor of South Sudan’s Wau state Andrea Mayar Achor has sacked his deputy and appointed a woman as the replacement.

The governor of South Sudan’s Wau state Andrea Mayar Achor has sacked his deputy and appointed a woman as the replacement.

In an order which became public on Thursday, Governor Mayar appointed Celestina Livio as the new deputy governor. Celestina succeeds Anthony Charles Barende.

Other officials affected by the gubernatorial decree were the state security adviser, Dominic Emilio Bafuka, local government minister James Joseph Uyu.

The state government’s secretary general, Achor Modesto Wol and the Wau town mayor, Mel Aleu Goc were also among the officials removed from their positions.
