The Governor of South Sudan’s Wau State, Andrea Mayar Acho, has issued a series of gubernatorial decrees removing and appointing new officials in his cabinet.

In a gubernatorial decree on Monday, Governor Mayar relieved the minister of infrastructure Lao Madhiu and replaced him with Peter Opio, and Peter Andel has been removed from his position as minister of local government and reappointed as new minister of agriculture.

The governor also reappointed the former minister of agriculture James Uyu as new minister of local government. David John Pons was appointed as the new minister of information replacing Bona Gudnisio who has been appointed as the new minister of health.

Separately, a Chinese medical team has arrived in Wau town on Monday to assist in conducting surgeries at Wau Teaching Hospital for one week.

Speaking to journalists, the Undersecretary of South Sudan’s Ministry of Health, Makur Koryom,  said the medical team will provide medical assistance including conducting surgeries.
