Andrea Mayar Achor, governor of the proposed Wau state, has appointed a replacement of the ousted Wau town Mayor, Akol Akol Ajith, who issued a controversial order demanding butchers to reduce the prices of meat a day before his removal from the office.
The decision forced the butchers to stop selling meat, resulting in the absence of meat for public consumption. It remains unclear whether the dismissal was connected to the order or was due to normal administrative changes.
Governor Mayar, according to his order which became on Thursday named Mel Aleu Deng as the new mayor of Wau town. The two other officials, one for finance and another for planning and project proposal were appointed as the deputies of the new town mayor. The officials are yet to take oath of office.
