A female welder in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State, is inspiring people and breaking stereotypes with her choice of profession.
Angelina Jacob found her passion at an early age; she took an interest in welding and fell in love with it. She graduated from Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre, and now, the young woman is working at a welding shop at Nazareth rea.
Angelina, who breaks down prejudices with her determination and skill, produces iron windows, doors, chairs and other things.
“I work independently without my boss. If people come to me with their items, I carry out my work professionally. I am happy with my work,” she said.
Angelina explained when and why she chose this career.
“I started working this year of 2022, I was trained in Don Bosco, and I joined welding to break stereotypes that the job is only for men,” she said. “In my opinion, any work goes with a choice; we have to get involved so that our country can move forward technically.”
Angelina urged Wau residents to visit her workplace located south of Wau town. “My message to the public is that if they have some materials that need welding, let them come to my place for welding,” she said.
