Civil aviation employees in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal State have threatened to strike over salary delays for four months.
Speaking to the press, Director of Wau airport Deng Deng on Wednesday said they were planning to strike starting from Thursday due to salary delays for four month but the intervention from the state government led to the postponement of the strike until further notice.
He noted that they are waiting for the response from the state government.
Meanwhile, James Joseph, acting state minister of infrastructure said after meeting with the civil aviation employees that the strike will influence negatively on the insecurity in greater Bahr el Ghazal because the airport is the only possible and fast way that is linking them with Juba.
He called on the officials in the national ministry of transport to look into this issue urgently and solve it.
