The administration of the Urban Water Corporation in Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal State has disclosed that shortages of water supply in the town are caused by lack of spare parts and fuel shortage.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, the Director of the Urban Water Corporation in Wau Aluak Buyuen stated several residential areas were experiencing water shortages due to fuel shortages.
He attributed the problem to non-payment of water bills by the beneficiaries of the service. The official urged the customers to commit themselves to pay water bills so that the Urban Water Corporation can provide regular water supply in the town.
However, the director reiterated his commitment to maintain water pipes at El Mowazafin residential area, saying local residents at the area have been complaining about accumulated stagnant water due to a fault and a technical problem in the pipes.
Buyuen stressed that lack of funds is negatively affecting the work of the corporation in the state.
