Citizens of Wau State in South Sudan have called on the newly appointed governor, Angelo Taban Biajo, to prioritize security to enable internally displaced people in UN camps and Church compounds to return to their homes.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj upon the arrival of Governor Taban to Wau on Monday, citizens said thousands of IDPs in the camps would like to go back to their homes but they fear rampant insecurity in their residential areas.

They appealed to governor Taban to work hard to discourage tribalism in the state in order to maintain peaceful coexistence of the different communities in Wau.
