Citizens in Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal state are still complaining about insecurity in residential areas.
Several local residents told Radio Tamazuj the security situation is deteriorating in the town, saying they heard gun shots on Wednesday night. Meanwhile another resident said an armed group attacked a citizen at Hai Nazrit but he was not hurt.
Mayor Livio Bahara told Radio Tamazuj that any gun shot at night is between the police and thieves who break into houses.
He claimed that the security situation has improved after the state governor divided the town into five zones to curb crime.
Last week, a trader from Sudan’s Darfur region was killed and another wounded in an attack by unknown gunmen in Wau town.
