Members of parliament in South Sudan’s Wau State, one of the states which came into existence after President Kiir issued a controversial ‘Establishment Order’ in October 2015 to divide up the country and create 28 states, have approved appointment of a new deputy governor.
Andrea Mayar, governor of the proposed Wau state, issued several local orders last week, one of which was meant for the appointment of the new deputy governor Pasquale Joseph Ayan.
Ageu Athuai Ageu, head of the parliamentary committee for information, said that about 25 lawmakers passed the deputy governor’s appointment unanimously.
“So from today onwards, the new deputy governor can be sworn-in so that he starts the work, because our people need services, “said Athuai.
He pointed out that the state assembly is ready to pass a new cabinet at any time soon, while citing good working relationships between the state governor and the parliament.
