Sudanese citizens in various residential areas in Khartoum have reported water supply crisis for almost two months, with complaints about fetching water by tankers.

According to one source, a barrel of water costs 75 SDG in some residential areas in south Khartoum. Shortages have been reported in Halfaya, Kalakal, Al Azhari, Salama and Ed Hussein areas, besides other areas in Omdurman.

In attempts to fix the problem, the Khartoum state government on Monday announced new plans to address the water shortage that hit the state.

Meanwhile, some local citizens downplayed the announcement made by the local authorities, saying it is just meant to appease the citizens. Radio Tamazuj earlier reported that citizens in Khartoum complained about water and fuel shortage affecting schooling and movement of public transports.
