Residents of Mujlad town in Sudan’s West Kordofan state have reported a water crisis in the town, prompting calls for action.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, a resident of the town complained about an acute shortage of water and soaring prices of water.

He also expressed discontent about an unfavourable exchange rate of hard currency at the market, as well as the high living cost.

“Prices of a barrel of water have recently increased with the beginning of rainy season,” a resident said.

The citizens are calling on the state government and locality authorities to look for an urgent solution to reduce the skyrocketing prices of water.
