The United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports the water supply and sanitation situation in the Bentiu protection of civilians site has improved slightly.
30 latrines were recovered from areas that were previously flooded, and construction of new latrines has also started in four sections of the camp. But there is still only one latrine for every 69 people and some residents of the camp are forced to use “pee-poo” bags as an interim measure.
OCHA also reports that the water supply is up from from 12.1 litres per person per day last month to 12.5 now.
In order to keep the camp dry, there are 14 pumps operating 12 hours daily to pump out the flood water.
