Water and power cuts in Blue Nile capital

Citizens in Damazin town Sudan’s Blue Nile State are reporting shortages of water and power supplies in the town.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, several residents of Damazin town said they were experiencing power blackouts and water shortages, saying they resorted to buy water amid rising prices of a barrel of water to 20 SDG.

They also complained about deteriorating health situation in the Central Hospital and other health centres, as well as high prices of medicines.

The Blue Nile river runs through the state which bears its name, where also is located the Roseires dam which provides much of Sudan's electricity supply.
