A leading civil society group in South Sudan has urged all warring parties to make compromises during the next intensive interlink consultations in Addis Ababa.

The intensive consultation between South Sudan’s parties in Addis Ababa is scheduled for 16-18 June.

Edmund Yakani, executive director of the non-profit Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), voiced concern over talks without tangible results between the warring parties.

“The reality is that the citizens are daily losing trust and confidence on the conflicting political parties’ readiness to compromise for peace,” Yakani said in a statement extended to Radio Tamazuj.

He called on the unity government and opposition groups to give peace a chance through the IGAD bridging peace proposal.

“Apply a win-win approach on the formation of the next government and conduct of security arrangements,” he said.

CEPO called upon the IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan Ismail Wais to allow national media to cover the intensive consultations in Addis Ababa.
