South Sudan’s parties have committed themselves to silence the guns while the peace talks are progressing, according to South Sudan council of churches.
The intra-South Sudanese peace talks in Addis Ababa are chaired by religious leaders.
In a statement issued at the peace talks this afternoon, the council of churches said some progress has been made and the spirit is positive as the thematic committee members begin talking the outstanding issues.
The council urged all parties to avoid negative statements and to strictly abide by the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.it also thanked the East African regional bloc IGAD and the international community for promoting the peace process in South Sudan.
