The Workers Trade Union in Warrap State has slammed Governor Nyandeng Malek for suspending financial support. This comes shortly after the secretary-general of the organization came out in favour of her removal from office.

“On behalf of Warrap state Workers Trade Union and on my own behalf as the Secretary General of this democratic institution, I would like to inform the National Workers Union Federation in Juba and the entire Trade Union movement in South Sudan that, Governor Nyandeng Malek Dielic had again repeated the past mistakes by suspending the activities and finance due to the reasons known by her,” said Morris Mabior Awikjok in a statement to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday.

He added, “Our objective is to work toward establishing strong decent work and claim workers’ rights. This is not the first time governor Nyandeng interfered with workers union in the state.”

The union official further called Nyandeng non-law-abiding and not respecting democratic institutions. He further called on Workers Trade Union’s national office to intervene in the situation.
