Warrap: Two people killed, two injured in cattle raid

At least two people have been confirmed dead and two others wounded during a cattle raid attack in Twic County of Warrap State. The two who sustained gunshots are receiving treatment at Italian Health facility CCM in Turalei County.

Deputy Governor for Twic State, one of three proposed successor states of Warrap, Atem Madut Yak said the attacked took place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at a place called Magak village in Majok Noon payam.

“Yes two cattle camps where raided yesterday and two people lost their lives during the raid. We are now communicating with the government of Northern Liech state to find out where these raiders come from,” he said, suspecting they may have come from the neighboring state.

Atem added that after the raid, the local youth organized themselves and pursued the attackers and as a result they have recovered over two hundred head of cattle. He did not further explain further how the youth managed to return back the cattle and whether there was any resistance from the raiders.

Last month, cattle raiders wounded two people in an attack in the same the village and reportedly took away over two hundred cattle.
