Warrap State health officials said the second Covid-19 drive will begin today after receiving more than 4,000 doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines.

Warrap State health officials said the second Covid-19 drive will begin today after receiving more than 4,000 doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines.

The state's health ministry confirmed that they had received 4,463 doses of the vaccines from the national ministry on September 1st, 2021. The doses are part of the country's second consignment from the global vaccine distribution mechanism, the COVAX facility.

"We have received 463 vials which is equivalent to 4,630 doses and we will distribute them to four key hospitals that are Kuajok, Mother Tereza in Twic County, Tonj South Hospital, and for Marial Lou Hospital will not be possible but those who took their first dose in Marial Lou Hospital will come for the second dose in Warrap health center and the mobile team will help mobilize people on where they will get their services," Dr. Barach Malith, Director General for Warrap Ministry of health said.

He added that vaccinations for those who have taken the first dose will start today at the Kuajok Hospital and other vaccination centers will start within the week.

"My advice is that what is important to worry about is the expiry date of the vaccine. Even if someone spends the whole month, he or she can still receive the second dose," Malith said.

The state director for Primary Health Care, Lino Nyong, called on the population o turn up for the vaccinations within the month.

The vaccines, according to the national health ministry, will expire in a month.
