South Sudan's Warrap State police on Monday received a donation of two motorcycles from the national non-governmental organization, Luluk Community Association for Development (L.CAD).

The Acting Commissioner of Police in Warrap, Lt. Col. James Wol Tong, also the Director for Traffic said the two motorcycles will help police combat crimes within the town by facilitating police intervention.

"The program of today is that L.CAD organization donates two motorcycles and I received them in the presence of state minister of parliamentary affairs. These bikes will help police reach places where we could not," Wol said. "I need to urge my colleagues to maintain them as government property and avoid the sense of privatization."

He added, "We have a lot of challenges, for example, there are no vehicles even one for the traffic police to reach where road accidents took place; it is challenging in the sense that this is a big town where motorists, cars users, and pedestrians might misunderstand themselves."

Ayii Akol Ayii, Warrap state Area Manager for L.CAD says the handover of the motorcycles follows the organization's pledge two months ago and is aimed at reducing crimes in Kuajok town and beyond.

"Today marks its time to hand over the pledge made by the Executive Director for L.CAD during launch. This will help police to reduce crimes related to shop breakings, fighting, rape reported cases, and other emergencies which might need immediate police intervention," he said.

Meanwhile, Deng Deng Kuot, the state government representative and minister of parliamentary affairs congratulated L.CAD and acknowledged that the state still faces many challenges.
