At least 19 members of peace committees from nine Payams of Warrap State's Gogrial West County underwent 10 days of training on peacebuilding, conflict management, and transformational leadership at Kuajok City Hotel.

The training supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and facilitated by the National Transformational Leadership Institute (NTLI) at Juba University ended on Thursday.

Addressing the members of the peace committees, Viviena Kakuli Aggrey, a facilitator from NTLI said they would be proud to hear that the peace committees can maintain peace within their communities.

"We will feel good when we see there is peace within the communities. That peace must start from home through you as ambassadors. You see these harmful traditional practices like child early marriage, there is what they call 'walk the talk' so be exemplary when you campaign against that in community," she stressed.

For his part, Warrap State Minister for Peace Building and Social Cohesion, Piol Buoi Ariath encouraged the participants to be peace ambassadors. He added that the ministry will use the participants to train more peace ambassadors in different parts of the state.

Radio Tamazuj also caught up with some of the participants after the training.

Duor Kuech Duor said, "We are qualified as peace committee and agents of change. We are going to work in Gogrial West County and Warrap state at large. During the one week and some days, we have covered a lot of topics like conflict management strategies, methods of resolving conflicts, and different types of gender-based violence."

"I am very confident that I will go back and help my people through peace awareness, encourage them to produce enough food because poverty is the cause of fighting. I will show them also how one gets his or her rights in a court of law," Santino Gong Deng said.
