At least one person was reportedly killed over the weekend during a cattle raid in Twic County of Warrap State, a state official said.
According to state Information Minister Ring Deng Ading, the incident took place in Abiel Boma in Twic County on Saturday and he blamed armed criminals suspected to be from neighboring Unity State for the attack.
“Today (Saturday) at around 3 pm, I received a report from Twic County that a group of thieves from Unity State attacked people in Abiel Boma and raided a herd of cattle and killed one person,” he said. “Four people were injured during the attack but the owners of the cows later recovered their animals.”
“Four people were injured and one person killed on our side,” he added.
Minister Ading said the situation was still tense because the attackers are still suspected to be in the bushes.
Efforts by Radio Tamazuj to contact authorities in Unity State were futile.
