Warrap governor gives new cabinet 100 day ultimatum for action plans

Caretaker Governor of Warrap State Akec Tong Aleu has given new cabinet ministers an ultimatum of 100 days to prepare action plans for their individual ministries.

According to the state minister of information, Ariec Mayar Ariec, the governor held a first briefing of the cabinet after appointing them last week. The meeting was an opportunity for the governor to unveil guidelines and list priorities to all ministers and set the agenda for the government.

The meeting on Wednesday was the first time the cabinet met simce the governor assembled his team on 26 September.

The state information minister who now speaks on behalf of the state government as its spokesperson explained that the governor had listed priorities of the government as security, governance, efficiency and delivery system implementation, among other things.

“The key agenda for the government is security, good governance,” said Ariec during an interview on Thursday.  He added that education, health, water, energy and roads remain part of the focus of the the government.

Akech, who was a critic of the former government, also said that the new government would seek to improve infrastructure and the economy.
