Warrap civil servants can work in any of three new states

The three appointed governors of the proposed Tonj, Gogrial, and Twic states in Warrap have agreed to allow civil servants to work in any of the three states without discrimination.

"We have resolved as governors after consultations with different category of our people, including high leadership in Juba, that civil servants in the three states can be given the freedom to move and work anywhere in the states," said Abraham Gum Makuac of Gogrial. "We have also resolved to share our resources, including human power and other assets.

Abraham said creating more states does not mean division of people nor stoppage of sharing knowledge.

"The main driving objective was to extend services close to the people," Abraham said. "These services can be better delivered if there are skilled people employed, regardless of which state they come. Someone from Gogrial can work in Twic and someone from Twic can work in Tonj and anywhere in three states."

Abraham added that the three Warrap governors will attend a conference on Monday in Alek town in Twic to discuss hunger in the area. Also in attendance will be the appointed governors of Aweil East and Northern Liech states and the chief administrator of Abyei area.
