Warrap business leader demands removal of governor

A business leader in Warrap State has demanded the removal of Governor Nyandeng Malek and warned that attempts to silence her critics by arresting them will not succeed.

Morris Mabior, Secretary-General of Workers Union in the state told Radio Tamazuj in an interview that youths and community leaders are protesting the extension of Nyandeng's rule because the governor failed to resolve inter-communal disputes and failed to provide basic services to citizens.

He further accused her of absenteeism. “The people are now killing themselves, while she doesn’t go there to resolve the problem,” he said.

The state official stressed that it is their constitutional rights to request the national government not to extend the governor’s tenure for three more years in office.

She does not stay in the state. She spends three months outside the state while the people are dying of hunger. And the food that is transported from the national government does not reach the citizens in the state,” he charged.

Morris further disclosed that his office was closed in the state after he fell out with the state governor. He called on the national government to remove her so security can be restored in the state.
